Aston Villa defender Joe Bennett passes medical at Sheffield Wednesday

Aston Villa defender Joe Bennett has passed his medical and agreed personal terms ahead of a proposed move to Sky Bet Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday, according to Sky sources.
All being well, the 26-year-old left-back will sign a three-year deal at Hillsborough and become Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal's sixth addition of the summer.

Bennett spent the second half of last season on loan at Wednesday, but only managed to make three appearances and did not feature in the club's play-off campaign.
Wednesday opened the 2016/17 Championship season with a 1-0 home victory over Villa on Sunday, with Bennett not included in Roberto Di Matteo's matchday squad.

Bennett joined Villa from Middlesbrough in 2012 and went on to make 36 appearances for the club, scoring once in a League Cup victory over Notts County last season.
He spent the 2014/15 season on loan at Brighton and was also loaned to Bournemouth, but did not manage to make an appearance for the Cherries.
