David Cotterill capitalised on a mix-up between Newcastle's Paul Dummett and Karl Darlow to hand Bristol City their second goal in the 2-2 draw at St James' Park.

Newcastle were looking to increase their lead at the top of the Sky Bet Championship table, but found themselves two goals down when Cotterill stole in just before half-time.

Following a long ball forward from Gary O'Neil, Dummett opted to head the ball back to his goalkeeper. However, Darlow drifted further over than Dummett had anticipated, and his header bounced beyond the reach of the Newcastle keeper, with Cotterill there to snatch the ball and pass it into the empty net.

The hosts were left with a mountain to climb in the second half, but they salvaged a point thanks to a Korey Smith own goal and a strike which appeared to come off Ciaran Clark's back.

Clark's leveller in the 82nd minute gave Newcastle time to find a winner, but the Robins stood firm to somewhat ease the pressure on manager Lee Johnson.
