Brighton moved back to the top of the Sky Bet Championship - and a step closer to promotion - with a 3-1 home win against Birmingham on Tuesday.

The Seagulls, last in the top flight in 1983, made the perfect start at the Amex Stadium, where Glenn Murray fired home after being set up by Bruno in the second minute.

Bruno was also involved in the build up to Tomer Hemed making it 2-0 early in the second half, before Uwe Hunemeier made it three and Che Adams pulled a goal back for the Blues.

The result put Albion two points above title rivals Newcastle, who are at home to Burton on Wednesday.

Brighton remain 10 points clear of Reading, who moved up a place to third with a 3-1 win at home to Blackburn.

Yann Kermorgant scored twice for the Royals and Garath McCleary got their other goal. Rovers remain in the bottom three.
