Fotheringham and Eagle let go by Championship strugglers
Norwich City have confirmed the release of midfield duo Mark Fotheringham and Robert Eagle.
Skysports.com revealed that Fotheringham was set to leave Carrow Road, with his contract due to expire in the summer.
The former Canaries captain has not played a first-team game for two months and is being chased by several other Championship clubs.
Eagle has not featured at all this season and the Championship strugglers have cancelled the pair's contracts by mutual consent.
New challenge
Canaries manager Bryan Gunn told the club's
official website: "Both players are aware that their best chance of playing regular first-team football lies elsewhere.
"Robert Eagle has worked very hard since emerging from our Academy ranks, but has found it very tough to break into the first team and this gives him the chance to focus on new challenges and kick-start his career.
"Mark Fotheringham also wants to play first-team football and again and with this news he now has the opportunity to secure a place with another club.
"I'd like to wish them all the best in their future careers on behalf of everyone at the club."
