Keeper awarded short-term contract

Ipswich have handed a short-term contract to former Hartlepool goalkeeper Arran Lee-Barrett. The 25-year-old has been drafted in by Roy Keane following Shaun Supple's decision to retire from the game. Lee-Barrett was born in Ipswich and was on Town's books up until the age of 15. He has since taken in spells at Weymouth and Coventry, before becoming a first-team regular at Hartlepool. He was, however, released by the Victoria Park outfit at the end of last season and is delighted to have found a new club early on in the 2009/10 campaign. Lee-Barrett told the club's official website: "With Shane leaving this week, I got a call from the manager offering me a chance here and grabbed it. "It's a great opportunity for me to join a top club. I can only benefit from training alongside Richard Wright but I want to push him for his place as much as I can."
