Robins keen to check on Slovenian defender

Slovenia international Suad Filekovic has joined Championship side Barnsley on a week-long trial. The experienced defender, who can operate at left-back or centre-half, has won 14 caps for his country and has prior experience of life in Russia, Belgium, Croatia and Greece. New Tykes boss Mark Robins is keen to take a look at the 31-year-old in action and will be keeping tabs on him in training over the next few days. "Suad is with us and we will run the rule over him this week," he told the club's official website. "He is an international with lots of experience so we will have a closer look at him." Meanwhile, it has been revealed that midfielder Emil Hallfredsson is facing up to a short spell on the sidelines after sustaining a knee ligament injury in Tuesday's 3-2 victory over Derby County. "We have done an initial assessment on Emil and he has strained his medial ligament," said club physio Chris Burton. "It looks like he will be out for between two and three weeks."
