Former Blades link-up for third time after Loftus Road deal
QPR have completed the signing of goalkeeper Paddy Kenny from Sheffield United on a three-year deal.
The move will be the third time Kenny has linked up with Neil Warnock, who managed the shot-stopper previously during their respective spells at the Blades and Bury.
Warnock has paid £750,000 for the 32-year-old's services and marks a new start for the Republic of Ireland international after spending eight years at Bramall Lane.
Kenny's career looked to be in peril last year after he received a nine-month ban for testing positive for a banned substance, which restricted him from playing all but two matches for United last season.
And after a turbulent spell at the South Yorkshire outfit, Kenny admitted the time was right to move on from the Steel City to reunite with his former manager.
He told the club's
official website: "It was a difficult decision to leave, but with the year I've had I felt it was the right time to move on.
"The chance to come to a club like Queens Park Rangers and to link up again with Neil Warnock was too good an opportunity to turn down.
"Neil is a massive character. It's the third time now that I'll be working with him and I'm very excited about the challenge ahead."
Goals
QPR are being tipped for promotion from the Championship this season and Warnock is looking to assemble a squad capable of finding a way out of the second tier.
The former Crystal Palace boss moved quickly to snare Kenny's signature, and the 61-year-old believes the capture is one of high quality.
"Paddy's a very good goalkeeper," said Warnock. "I rate him very, very highly and genuinely believe he's one of the best around at this level.
"Yes, he's made mistakes in his life in the past, but he's a straight-forward guy and I think this is the right time for him and his family to leave Sheffield and focus on the next chapter of his career.
"I know he'll relish the challenge of helping us achieve our goals."
