Reading have stressed they are keen to keep Jobi McAnuff at the Madejski Stadium next season.

Royals hoping to keep winger next season

Reading have stressed they are keen to keep Jobi McAnuff at the Madejski Stadium next season. QPR are reportedly preparing a £1.8million bid for the star winger following rumours of a rejected £1.5m offer, although manager Brian McDermott insisted last week that the club had received no approach from Neil Warnock's side. Reading director of football Nick Hammond is hoping 28-year-old McAnuff, who signed for £500,000 from Watford last summer, will remain with the Royals.

Hopeful

"I'm very hopeful Jobi will stay with us," Hammond told Get Bracknell. "Myself and Brian are very happy with the squad and Jobi is a key part of it. "He is one of the top wide players in the Championship and is coming into the best years of his career. "He's an experienced player and he's not someone we would want to lose. He's got many great years ahead of him." McAnuff, who has two years left on his current deal with Reading, has played down the speculation. "We cannot pay too much attention to rumours," said McAnuff. "You ignore all of that until the club puts something formal to you and I haven't heard anything."
