Brann have confirmed that Portsmouth striker Erik Huseklepp would be welcomed back at the Norwegian club in the summer.

Striker expected to leave Portsmouth permanently in the summer

Brann have confirmed that Portsmouth striker Erik Huseklepp would be welcomed back at the Norwegian club in the summer. Huseklepp initially left Brann in early 2011 for Bari, but quit the Italian side to join Portsmouth on a three-year contract last August. However, due to Pompey's dire financial situation, Huseklepp moved to Birmingham City on loan in February and he has scored twice in 11 appearances during his time at St Andrew's. The Norway international is widely expected to leave Portsmouth permanently at the end of the season and has been linked with a return to Brann. He has recently become a father and that has fuelled rumours that he could rejoin his former club as part of Pompey's continued cost-cutting drive. Brann director Roald Bruun-Hanssen told BT: "It's correct that we talked to Erik when he was home because of the birth (of his child). "But I don't want to speculate on whether Erik will return to Brann now. Of course, Erik would be welcomed back as a Brann player."
