Sheffield Wednesday have signed teenage midfielder Ryan Croasdale from Preston.

The 19-year-old, who has made one first-team appearance for North End, has put pen to paper on a one-year deal and officially joins Wednesday on July 1.

Croasdale is reunited with Owls academy manager Dean Ramsdale, who worked with the player during his time as director of youth development at Preston.

"I've known Ryan a long time and I'm really pleased that he has joined us," Ramsdale told Wednesday's official website.

"He's a very talented and technically gifted player and fortunately for us, he will be with us for the next year, as I know other clubs were interested.

"He's a box-to-box central midfielder, he's a winner, he's determined and I'm delighted he has signed."

Croasdale progressed through Preston's academy and signed his first professional contract at Deepdale last summer.

He made his only appearance for the Lilywhites against Oldham in October 2013 in a Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie and last season had loan spells at Tamworth and Stalybridge Celtic.
