Transfer news: Torquay's Levi Ives watched by Premier League and Championship clubs

Sky Sports understands a host of Premier League and Championship clubs are tracking Torquay teenager Levi Ives.

The 17-year-old has been earning rave reviews for Torquay and is regarded as one of the best young prospects ever to emerge from Plainmoor.

Torquay boss Chris Hargreaves recently admitted the club may find it hard to keep Ives, saying last month: "To have that sort of accomplished left foot at his age is great and we may struggle to keep hold of him."

The left-back was a stand-out performer for Northern Ireland's youth side as they won this summer's presigious Milk Cup tournament and is already a Northern Ireland Under-19 international.

Ives is in the final year of a trainee scholarship with Torquay's academy and he has yet to sign a pro contract at the club.

The news has alerted Ives' suitors with several sides higher up the football ladder waiting in the wings to lure him away from Torquay.

Scouts from a number of top clubs across England are set to watch Ives in action next month when he plays in three Euro Under-19 qualifying games against Czech Republic, Russia and Faroe Islands and Torquay are bracing themselves for moves for the talented teenager.
