Birmingham City failed in their attempt to sign Alex Song on Deadline Day.
The former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder was in the Midlands for talks but a deal could not be arranged, with Song unable to agree terms with his current club Rubin Kazan to leave on loan.
The 29-year old spent six years at the Gunners before moving to Barcelona in 2012 for £15m, where he won La Liga in his first season.
Song failed to establish himself at the Nou Camp, though, and spent the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons on loan at West Ham.
He was released by Barcelona last season having played only 65 times for the club in all competitions over four years and joined Rubin Kazan.
Song has made 49 appearances for Cameroon but announced his international retirement in 2014.
