Lee Carsley is in pole position to become Birmingham' new full-time manager, according to Sky sources.
Carsley, the club's head professional development coach, is in caretaker charge following Harry Redknapp's sacking on Saturday.
It is understood the Irishman is keen on the job, although no formal talks have taken place.
And Carsley needs to understand the terms on offer having recently accepted a role as England U21 assistant manager.
