BLUES DUO TO LEAVE

BIRMINGHAM CITY have released Jon Bass and James Dyson from their current contracts due to expire in the summer.

Bass, 24, has made 81 appearances for the club in his seven-year stint, but has only managed five minutes of first team football this season.

Dyson,22, joined the club in 1997 and was on the fringes of the Birmingham team until he broke a leg in a training ground collision with Darren Purse in 1999.

The player has failed to truly recover from that setback and will leave St Andrews with just three substitute appearances to his name..

Birmingham manager Trevor Francis is considering a move for Willem II goalkeeper Jim van Fessen who has impressed during a trial period at the club.

If Francis decides to sign van Fessen it could signal the exit of reserve goalkeeper Kevin Poole whose contract expires in the summer.
