Novak could be Birmingham-bound
MFK Kosice have confirmed to
skysports.com that they have opened talks with Birmingham City over striker Jan Novak.
The Slovak outfit have allowed their star striker to train with Birmingham over the last week.
Blues chief Alex McLeish admitted his liking for the 24-year-old Slovakian international and a deal could now be in the pipeline.
MFK Kosice's head of football development Allen Bula has confirmed that they are ready to let Kovak join Birmingham - if they meet their asking price.
"I can confirm that we have opened official talks with Birmingham City," Bula told
skysports.com.
Star player
"Novak is very happy with all he has seen in Birmingham City and has said he would like to be part of this club in the near future.
"Novak is our star player, and has been top goalscorer in the Slovak top league in the past few seasons.
"He has always been one of the hardest workers and most loyal players in our club and for this reason we will never stand in the way of such a great move for him to one of the biggest leagues in the world, the Premier League.
"But as we agreed with Novak, it is has to be the right club, and more so if the transfer is to be done in January. We will not sell him to a club that just wants extra players and not have him match fit for the World Cup.
"We believe Birmingham City is the right club for Novak, now it all depends if we can reach an agreement on the selling price which is 3 million euros (£2.7million)."
