Blues look to the future with teenager Redmond
Birmingham youngster Nathan Redmond has signed a three-year professional contract with his hometown club.
Redmond became the second youngest debutant in the club's history when he played against Rochdale in the second round of the Carling Cup earlier this season aged just 16 years and 173 days.
The 17-year-old, who has been at Birmingham since the age of 9, is highly regarded at St Andrews and has represented England at Under and Under 17 levels.
Delighted
"I'm delighted," Richmond told the club's
official website about signing his first professional contract.
"I've worked hard to get here but I know that the hard work has got to continue if I want to push myself on further.
"The last few months have been overwhelming for me. I've learned so much over this past year and it has given me a taste of what I could achieve.
"The gaffer (Alex McLeish) is always trying to push me on to the next step. He's got plans for me if I'm willing to put the hard work in and I'm determined to become a better player."
