Younes Kaboul and Sam Allardyce have joined the chrous of approval for Lamine Kone as they look to derail Leicester City's title charge this weekend.

Kone has won plaudits since his January arrival from FC Lorient in a £5m deal and Kaboul is in no doubt as to the benefits he has brought to the relegation battle.

He told the Sunderland website: "Lamine is a great centre back. He is strong, quick and it is a pleasure to play in this team so hopefully we can be rewarded at the end of the season.

"I've been unlucky with some injuries but as a professional you have to keep going because it is part of the sport, so I'm working hard in training and in the gym to be ready for the games.

"We need to carry on this way because we have been playing very well and the next game is home."

Sam Allardyce says Sunderland need a victory as they prepare to face off against Leicester

Allardyce told the Echo: "His (Kone's) consistent level of performance has been miraculous considering he only joined us in January. He looks like he's played in the Premier League all his career.
