Sunderland have successfully appealed against the red card Chris Maguire received late on in the 1-1 draw with Luton on Saturday.
Maguire was dismissed deep into added time with referee Lee Probert indicating a stamp on Alan McCormack being the reason.
But an FA statement on Sunderland's website reads: "A claim of wrongful dismissal regarding Sunderland AFC's Christopher Maguire has been successful following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today (Tuesday).
Maguire had earlier put Sunderland ahead after 16 minutes against Luton. Danny Hylton levelled from the spot for the Bedfordshire club midway through the second half.
Sunderland remain third in League One with Luton a point ahead in second place.
The ruling means Maguire will now be available for Sunderland's next game against Scunthorpe on Saturday.
