Sunderland have sealed the signing of Ipswich Town midfielder Tommy Miller.
The Black Cats have confirmed the free transfer arrival of the former Hartlepool United man on a two-year contract.
A return to the North East was always likely to appeal to the 26-year-old, who completed his stint at Portman Road when rejecting the chance to remain in Suffolk.
Miller had other offers with Leeds United and Wigan Athletic amongst his admirers.
"Tommy was one of the top players in The Championship last year," commented Black Cats manager Mick McCarthy. "Scoring 15 goals from midfield.
"He was chased by a number of clubs but we've got him and I'm delighted.
"He's a local lad and the prospect of playing for his hometown club has clearly been the decider for him."
Miller becomes the latest capture for McCarthy after a busy summer which has seen Jon Stead, Nyron Nosworthy, Kelvin Davis and Daryl Murphy all join the Premiership new boys.
