Carlisle United have extended Sunderland full-back Michael Liddle's loan into February.

Carlisle United have extended Sunderland full-back Michael Liddle's loan into February. Liddle has made nine appearances for Carlisle since moving to Brunton Park in November and will now stay until Valentine's Day. He has impressed for the League One club and Carlisle boss Greg Abbott is happy to have retained the teenager's services. "Michael has settled really well with us and we are delighted that we have been able to extend his loan spell," Abbott told the club's official website. "He is enjoying his football and I think it is of benefit to all concerned that he is getting a regular run of competitive games at this level. "I have spoken to Ricky Sbragia at Sunderland and he is happy with how things are progressing so, like I say, I'm very pleased that he will be staying with us."
