Keeper doubtful for Man Utd game

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has revealed Simon Mignolet suffered a broken nose in the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa. Mignolet was injured in a clash with Villa striker Emile Heskey and was forced off with the problem early in the second half of the game. The injury leaves Mignolet as a major doubt for next weekend's trip to Manchester United and Steve Bruce refused to blame Heskey for injuring the keeper. "Simon has got a badly-broken nose. He's had a CT scan to check his jaw, cheekbones and teeth," said Bruce, "There's no blame attached to the incident. He's been brave and gone in with Heskey for the ball, but it's certainly going to be a sore one." Keiren Westwood, who replaced Mignolet against Villa, could now start at Old Trafford if the Belgian fails to recover in time.
