Derby County have had more than 20 credible applications for the vacant manager's job at Pride Park, Sky Sports News understands, though the club plan to take their time in drawing up a shortlist of candidates.
Gary Rowett left for Stoke City on Tuesday, leaving Derby looking for their seventh manager in three years.
Rowett, who spent just over a year at Pride Park, joined the newly-relegated Potters after the club paid the £1.8m compensation clause in his Derby contract.
Derby will begin preparing for their 11th consecutive season in the Championship after losing to 2-1 on aggregate to Fulham in the play-off semi-finals this year.
Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has emerged as the bookmakers' favourite for the Derby job, having pulled out of the running for the vacant manager's role at Ipswich on Wednesday.
