Frank Lampard is up against odds of 6/1 with Sky Bet to lead Derby to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The Chelsea legend was handed his first managerial position on Thursday morning, signing a three-year deal with the Sky Bet Championship side.

He will be tasked with improving on the Rams' play-off semi-final disappointment, but the EFL sponsor seem to be doubting their credentials.

New Derby boss Frank Lampard can utilise the experience he gained under top managers during his playing career - but will have his own ideas too, says ex-Rams defender Michael Johnson.

Seven other clubs are shorter odds to secure promotion, with Lampard 16/1 to add the Sky Bet Championship title to his trophy cabinet, the same price as his new side are to face relegation.

They are, however, likely to be linked with a series of high-profile names, especially with Lampard's former team-mate John Terry leaving Aston Villa on Wednesday evening.

The Rams are 5/4 favourites to sign Terry, with a move to the MLS considered next most likely at 6/1, while Steven Gerrard's Rangers are 7/1 to secure his services.
