Preston have signed midfielder Josh Harrop from Manchester United.

The 21-year-old will join The Lilywhites when his Old Trafford contract ends next week.

Harrop played his one and only United game on the final day of last season, when he scored in a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

Harrop made 25 appearances for United's reserves but will continue his career at Deepdale where he will link up with former Reds' team-mates Marnick Vermijl, Ben Pearson and Liam Grimshaw.

The Stockport-born player told the Championship club's website: "It's a new start for me to get things going in my career and I'm buzzing to get playing and to make an impact in the team.

"I've got four years now at Preston North End where I know I am going to be and I am going to put everything into that."

Preston manager Simon Grayson added: "Josh is a player who has attracted a lot of interest this summer and we had to move quickly to secure his signature.
