Ali Gabr in line for West Brom debut after attaining work permit

Ali Gabr is available for West Bromwich Albion selection after securing a work permit.

The Egypt international has joined Alan Pardew and the first-team squad currently training at the second-team HQ of La Liga club Espanyol.

The 29-year-old defender could be in line to make his West Brom debut in Saturday's FA Cup fifth-round tie against Southampton at The Hawthorns.

West Brom signed Gabr from Egyptian club Zamalek FC on loan until the end of the season on the penultimate day of the January transfer window.

The Baggies have the option to make the move permanent, with a fee already agreed between the two clubs.

The 29-year-old will wear the number 16 shirt and link up with his international centre-back partner Ahmed Hegazi.
