Blackburn midfielder Steven Reid has extended his loan spell at West Brom until the end of the season

But Watson returns to Wigan

Steven Reid has extended his loan spell at West Brom until the end of the season and is hoping his earn a permanent move to the Hawthorns. The Blackburn midfielder is out of contract in the summer and as yet no new deal has been agreed at Ewood Park. The 29-year-old initially joined West Brom on a month's loan last month and the Baggies have moved to extend it until May. Reid has enjoyed his spell with Roberto Di Matteo's men and he is aiming to prove he deserves a permanent switch to the promotion hopefuls. "I'm delighted with the way it's gone. We've had a decent run and I'm delighted to have played so many games," Reid told the club's official website. "I think I've played five 90-minute games in 21 days. Before that I hadn't played five 90-minute matches in the league in well over a year."

Uncertain future

Reid added: "My future's a bit uncertain. I've put that to the back of my mind over the last few months while I've tried to get back to fitness and I'm not letting it worry me. First and foremost I'm looking to the next game and the next 90 minutes. "If I do well then it would be nice, contract-wise, if something could be there. If I keep performing well and that leads to a longer stay at the club then I will be delighted - and it will mean I've done well for the club." Meanwhile, Ben Watson has been recalled from his loan spell at the Hawthorns by Wigan. Watson joined West Brom in February and made seven appearances for the Baggies, scoring one goal in the win against Preston. Wigan had the option to recall Watson at the end of his loan spell and Latics boss Roberto Martinez has decided to bring the former Crystal Palace man back to the DW Stadium.
Sorry
"We're really sorry to see Ben go," said Baggies boss Di Matteo. "He's a great lad who has settled in really well and made a vital contribution to our season. "But this is always a possibility when you loan a player and I would like to wish him and Wigan all the best for the rest of the season. "Thankfully, we've got a few other options in that area as we've got a few midfielders returning to fitness."
