But winger insists back fracture is not a major concern
West Brom winger Jerome Thomas has suffered a recurrence of the back problem which curtailed his last season in the Premier League with Portsmouth.
Thomas has missed the previous four games due to the injury, a similar one to which has hampered Rio Ferdinand's campaign with Manchester United.
But Thomas has dismissed any fears over his long-term fitness and insists he will be fine for pre-season, while he could possibly even make a speedy comeback for the final game of the season at home to Barnsley.
"Unfortunately I've had this recurrence of the back injury towards the end of this season," he told Albion's
official website.
"It's called Pars Defect - a fracture of the lower back. But we've had the scans and it's nothing to worry about.
"It's just a case of it being a bit too much this season. Hopefully with a nice break now, I'll be raring to go next season.
"We know how to handle it now. The issue at Portsmouth was that they didn't know how to deal with it, which is why I was out for so long.
"But now, after just a couple of weeks of rehab with the physios here, it is feeling a lot better."
