When can Wolves win promotion? Nuno Espirito Santo's side potentially two wins away from Premier League return

With Wolves closing in on sealing promotion, we take a look at when Nuno Espirito Santo's side can confirm their Premier League return for the first time since 2012?

It has been a rollercoaster few years for the club, who have spent a season in League One more recently than they were in the top flight, and in 2014 became the first side to be relegated from the first to the third tier in back-to-back seasons.

Now, however, things are looking far more positive and Wolves could, in theory, guarantee promotion as soon as Tuesday, should results over the weekend go their way.

Wolves currently have a six-point lead over second-placed Cardiff, who have a game in hand, and a 13-point lead over Fulham and Aston Villa in third and fourth respectively.

Championship top six

# Team PL GD Pts
1 Wolves 38 36 82
2 Cardiff 37 27 76
3 Fulham 38 25 69
4 Aston Villa 38 24 69
5 Derby 37 21 62
6 Middlesbrough 38 18 62

Should Wolves win away at Middlesbrough on Friday - live on Sky Sports Football - and at home against Hull on Tuesday, then they will win promotion if Fulham and Aston Villa both lose their games, as they will have a 19-point gap with six games to go - where only 18 points would be attainable.

Fulham travel to Norwich on Good Friday and host Leeds - live on Sky Sports Football - on Tuesday night, while Aston Villa head to Hull - also live on Sky Sports Football - for a Saturday teatime kick-off, and then host Reading on Tuesday night.

Wolves' remaining fixtures

Middlesbrough (a) Fri, March 30 Live on Sky
Hull (h) Tues, April 3
Cardiff (a) Fri, April 6 Live on Sky
Derby (h) Wed, April 11 Live on Sky
Birmingham (h) Sun, April 15 Live on Sky
Bolton (a) Sat, April 21
Sheff Wed (h) Sat, April 28
Sunderland (a) Sun, May 6

Wolves have been top for most of the season and, aside from a blip in February and early March, have rarely looked like being caught. If they win all their remaining games this season they could equal the second-tier record of 106 points, which was set by Reading in 2005/06.

Although they would have to go some way to equal their goal difference tally. Reading scored 99 times that season and conceded 32, for a goal difference of +67, while Wolves have scored just 69 times this season and already conceded 33, leaving them with a goal difference so far of +36.

While it may not happen over the weekend, sooner or later Wolves will seal promotion. Four more wins will put them in an unassailable position, which means they could do it at home against Derby on Wednesday, April 11 - which is live on Sky Sports Football.
