Nuno Espirito Santo felt his side’s determination helped them secure three second-half goals to beat West Ham 3-0 at Molineux.
After a goalless opening hour, Romain Saiss' second goal of the season with 66 minutes gone finally rewarded the dominance of the hosts, who moved up to seventh with victory, and are now four points ahead of their visitors.
"You never know [if you will break through]," said Santo. "What I think is that we have to keep insisting minute after minute to achieve what we want, we can't spend too long complaining. We did well.
"We played good, in the first half we played well but we didn't manage to score. We kept the tempo and composure up. We had good position and movement, but there was always the danger of them hitting us on the counter-attack."
Despite rising into the seventh position often dubbed the "best of the rest" outside the traditional big six sides in the Premier League, Santo was uninterested in celebrating his side's progression in their first season in the Premier League since 2012.
He said: "We have the next challenge now. The table doesn't mean anything to any team at all, we have to keep focused on the next challenge - and that's Everton."
