Steven Davis has been appointed as Southampton's new club captain, with Virgil van Dijk team captain.
Jose Fonte fulfilled both duties but he left St Mary's earlier this week, joining West Ham United in an £8m deal.
Northern Ireland international midfielder Davis joined the club from Rangers in 2012 and has made 148 appearances in all competitions.
He has been in and out of the first team under Claude Puel this season, while Van Dijk has been a regular under the Frenchman's stewardship.
Van Dijk, who will lead the side out on matchdays when named in the starting XI, joined Saints from Celtic in September 2015, and has established himself as one of the leading centre-backs in the Premier League.
