Saints star set for shock Scots call

More from Football

Southampton defender Fitz Hall looks set to be handed a shock call-up to the Scotland squad.

Scottish chief Berti Vogts has found out that Hall qualifies to play for the Tartan nation through his grandmother.

The former Oldham star - who only moved to Southampton in the summer and has played less than ten Premiership games - now looks set to be handed a quick-fire international call-up.

"I have spoken to Paul Sturrock about him," said Vogts (pictured).

"He's a big lad, over 6ft. He's not played many games yet but he's always in the squad, always on the bench.

"First I have to speak to him and watch him. Maybe not to play in the two friendlies in May, but I have to watch him in training."
