Idiakez extends QPR loan

Inigo Idiakez has extended his loan spell from Southampton until the end of the season.

Southampton midfielder Inigo Idiakez has extended his loan spell with Queens Park Rangers until the end of the season.

Idiakez moved to Loftus Road on an initial one-month loan in early March, after falling down the pecking order at Southampton.

He has been in fine form for QPR however, scoring in the 3-1 victory at Leicester and helping John Gregory's side move away from the relegation zone.

The Spaniard had been due to return to St Mary's after the Easter weekend matches against Coventry and Luton, but Southampton have agreed for him to remain at QPR.

"I'm delighted we've been able to secure his services until the end of the season." Gregory told the club's official website.

"He's made a real difference since he's arrived here and although a hamstring injury has ruled him out of the last couple of fixtures, he'll have a huge role to play over the next four weeks."

Idiakez's last game for QPR will be against Stoke on 6th May, meaning he will be available for Southampton should they make the Championship play-offs.
