Blackpool consider £6million offer for winger

Sky Sports understands Southampton have made a £6million bid for Blackpool winger Matt Phillips. Saints boss Nigel Adkins confirmed earlier this week his interest in Phillips and he has now firmed it up with a bid. Phillips' future at Bloomfield Road has been the subject of speculation all summer with a number of clubs chasing his services. The likes of Everton and Sunderland have been linked with Phillips, but Premier League new boys Southampton are hoping to lure the Scotland international to St Mary's. Phillips caught the eye during Blackpool's campaign in the Premier League and the flying winger also impressed last term by helping the Seasiders reach the Championship play-off final. Blackpool are reluctant to lose the 21-year-old, but they will find it hard to reject Southampton's big-money offer which would represent a major profit from what they paid for him to Wycombe two years ago.
