Ronald Koeman's Southampton are in talks with Feyenoord over the potential signing of Netherlands midfielder Jordy Clasie, according to Sky sources.

Koeman is seeking a replacement for Morgan Schneiderlin, who has joined Manchester United in a four-year deal worth around £25million.

Clasie was left out of Feyenoord's pre-season friendly against Fortuna Dusseldorf on Sunday, adding to speculation he is set to leave the Eredivisie club.

The 24-year-old, who captains Feyenoord, has won 11 caps for the Netherlands to date.
