Stoke boss Mark Hughes has suggested the club are looking into signing Bruno Martins Indi on a permanent deal from Porto in January.
The 24-year-old Netherlands defender joined produced some excellent performances since signing from Porto on a season-long loan in the summer.
Martins Indi has started 12 Premier League games and Hughes says the centre-back has been a welcome addition to the dressing room.
After his side were beaten 3-1 at Arsenal on Saturday, Hughes said of Martins Indi: "He's done really well.
"I have to say that, since he's been here, whenever he's gone up against quality, he's acquitted himself really well more often than not.
"He's a great guy around the place and he's beyond his years. He's only 24 years of age, but has an old head on his shoulders . He wants to do well in the Premier League and we want that to be with us if we can."
Martins Indi joined Porto from Feyenoord in a £6.1m deal after an impressive showing in the World Cup for Netherlands under Louis van Gaal.
