Stoke defender Kevin Wimmer will join Bundesliga side Hannover 96 on loan for the 2018/19 season.

The Austria international joined the Potters from Tottenham last summer for £18m and played 19 times in all competitions.

Wimmer fell out of favour as the campaign went on, however, with his last game for Stoke coming as a substitute in the 3-0 defeat to Manchester United on January 15.

The 25-year-old - who signed for City from Cologne for £4.3m in 2015 - now joins a Hannover side that finished 13th in the German top flight last season.
