Wolves defender Danny Batth is close to completing a move to Stoke for a fee in excess of £3m, according to Sky sources.

Stoke are in the market for a centre-back and Wolves are willing to allow the 28-year-old to leave on a permanent deal.

Batth is currently on loan at Middlesbrough and has featured 13 times this season, but now looks set to become the first signing of Stoke's new manager Nathan Jones.

He played 21 times for Wolves last season as they won the Sky Bet Championship title, but was not included in any of Nuno Espirito Santo's matchday squads at the start of the Premier League season.

It was clear he was not in Nuno's plans for the Premier League and he moved on loan to Middlesbrough.

However, it appears that Batth is now set to end his 18-year association with Wolves - where he began his career.
