Fernandes trains with Stoke

Former Southampton and Bolton midfielder Fabrice Fernandes is training with Stoke.

Former Southampton and Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Fernandes is training with Stoke City.

The Frenchman left Bolton over 12 months ago and is now trying to clinch a deal with the promotion-chasing Potters.

Fernandes featured in Stoke's reserves' 0-0 draw with Port Vale on Wednesday and was joined in the team by another, unnamed trialist.

Meanwhile, Potters boss Tony Pulis has revealed he has made no progress in his efforts to bring a striker to The Britannia Stadium.

Pulis has enquired about three Premiership forwards and is still waiting for the respective clubs to come to a decision.

"Nothing's happened at the moment, but that's often the way it goes," Pulis told The Sentinel.

"We've been making a lot of effort to bring players in, so I don't see it as a frustration.

"We are looking at the same three players as earlier in the week, but we have to wait for their clubs for it to be right for them.

"We can't buy anyone at the moment because it is outside the window, so we are just looking for clubs to help us out with strikers."
