Joe Edwards heads a list of nine players leaving Colchester this summer.

Versatile Edwards, who can play at full-back or in midfield, enjoyed an impressive campaign with the U's, despite their relegation to Sky Bet League Two.

Director of football Tony Humes told the club's official website: "Joe signed a one-year deal when he first joined us and, understandably, he is keen to play at the highest level possible.

"He has had an excellent season and is taking his opportunity to see what else is out there, but we would be interested in signing him should the opportunity arise."

Tosin Olufemi will look to kick-start his career after seven years at Colchester, while Darren Ambrose, Nicky Shorey, Elliott Parish and Marvin Sordell are other first-teamers who are leaving the Community Stadium.
