Sheffield Wednesday striker Steven Fletcher's sublime flicked assist for Gary Hooper
Saturday 17 September 2016 22:57, UK
Steven Fletcher produced a sublime piece of skill to set up fellow forward Gary Hooper for Sheffield Wednesday's opener at Birmingham City.
With the match goalless at St Andrew's, the former Burnley, Wolves and Sunderland striker instinctively released Hooper through on goal on 76 minutes, and he duly obliged, slotting the ball under Adam Legzdins.
Having initially lost his footing while leading a counter attack, Fletcher improvised to devastating effect - back-heeling the ball into the path of his strike partner, stumping the Blues defence in the process.
The goal moved Wednesday to within 14 minutes of victory, but the Owls couldn't hold on for the win as a Clayton Donaldson penalty and Lukas Jutkiewicz stoppage-time strike snatched the three points for Birmingham.
