Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal would not be drawn on his immediate future following their play-off defeat to Huddersfield.

Huddersfield will play Reading in the Sky Bet Championship play-off final at Wembley after beating Sheffield Wednesday 4-3 on penalties following a dramatic encounter at Hillsborough.

After a 0-0 draw in the first leg, the teams could not be separated at the end of 210 minutes of football after Steven Fletcher's opening goal was cancelled out by a Tom Lees own-goal in a tense second leg, which ended 1-1 at the end of extra-time.

The result means Wednesday have now lost out in the Championship play-offs for the last two seasons after suffering defeat to Hull City in last year's final.

Carvalhal's future at the club is unclear after reports suggested that he only signed a one-year contract extension at the beginning of this season, which expires this summer.

When asked about his future, he said: "I don't talk in this moment. In this moment I want to relax a little and I will sit with the chairman. That's not a problem, I am not worried about my future."

Carvalhal admitted it was hard to take a second straight play-off loss after last season's final defeat, but expressed pride in the performance of both his players and the club.

"I must say congratulations to Huddersfield," he said.

"The semi-finals were very divided. Little things make the difference. We took advantage but then we conceded a goal we don't expect to concede as we normally close the space very well. Penalties are then a lottery.

"Even though we are disappointed, we must be proud. Sheffield Wednesday are now a team that fights for promotion."
