Owls sign McGovern

Sheffield Wednesday have signed midfielder John-Paul McGovern on a free transfer from Scottish Premier League side Livingston.

The former Celtic man has signed a two-year deal with the Hillsborough outfit, having played on loan at rivals Sheffield United in 2002.

The 23-year-old is one of a handful of new faces to arrive since the season ended for the South Yorkshire outfit, as manager Chris Turner looks to turn the fortunes of Wednesday around.

"I'm absolutely delighted. When Sheffield Wednesday came in I didn't have any hesitation," McGovern told the club's official website.

"There were a few other clubs interested but as soon as I heard about Sheffield Wednesday, I knew about the city and the club. I'm looking forward to it."
