Slovenia defender learns vital lessons off the pitch in England

Olimpija Ljubljana defender David Kasnik has returned to his parent club after his six-month loan at Sheffield Wednesday ended without him playing a single game. The 24-year-old was unable to force his way into manager Gary Megson's plans but feels he is leaving England richer for the experience. "I came back to Olimpija because I didn't get an opportunity to play, but I'm not disappointed or angry," he told Olimpija's official website.

Regret

"I had an unbelievable experience and I don't regret a thing. I am coming back stronger than I was before. "Gary Megson told me that maybe something could happen next year as the contract I had was only until January, but I decided it would be better to return home. "Megson told me that my quality is not a problem but he told me that I missed all of the summer preparations so he didn't want to gamble with me. But as I said - I don't regret a thing."

Kasnik still vividly recalls an experience with Wednesday fans during his first fortnight in the country which left an indelible mark on him. "I will never forget what happened to me two weeks after I arrived in England," he added. "I went to a hairdresser and the lady asked me what I did, when I told them I played for Wednesday, all the customers in the salon wanted to get a picture with me."
