Cardiff boss Neil Warnock says he needs to sign another striker in the January window and remains hopeful of securing the signature of forward Emiliano Sala.
Nantes striker Emiliano Sala is one of three potential signings Cardiff are targeting from France before the end of the transfer window, according to Sky sources.
A move for Nice midfielder Adrien Tameze has collapsed but the Bluebirds are interested in a potential loan for Marseille winger Clinton N'Jie.
"I'd still like another striker, even with the lads that are here, because something like this might happen again," Warnock said. "We're very thin on the ground in that area and we've got to try and get more goals into the team."
Warnock also revealed how a trip to France to secure a deal for Sala did not go as planned.
"At the moment it is very up in the air," he said.
"There are a number of players that we are looking at, especially in the French market. Nothing concrete at all. Nothing untoward, we just have to get on with it with what we've got.
"That's right [I flew out to France]. I spoke to the owner of the club [Nantes], they've got one or two decent players there as well. It's between us [why a deal didn't happen].
"I don't want to go into the details on that. He is one of a number that we looked at, there were two or three players we were looking at, at the same time."
Warnock says he is waiting on late fitness tests for a few players with knocks ahead of Saturday's game against Huddersfield but confirmed Kenneth Zohore would resume first-team training next week.
"We've got a few players with knocks. Most of them trained yesterday, so we'll have to wait and see," he said on Friday morning.
"Kenneth's looking sharp. He starts full-time training next week. His eyes are bright and it's nice to see. He's worked really hard to get back.
"He'll be struggling to get back for next weekend. He might get on the bench."
