Striker aims to be on target for Bluebirds

Nicky Maynard has completed his transfer from West Ham to Cardiff City for an undisclosed fee after agreeing terms and passing a medical. The striker scored three times for the Hammers after joining them in January 2012, including a memorable strike against the Bluebirds in the second leg of their play-off semi-final. With Sam Allardyce bringing Andy Carroll in on loan, Maynard would have been further down the pecking order at Upton Park. The former Bristol City player has inked in a three-year deal with the South Wales club. "I moved to West Ham with the hope of playing in the Premier League regularly, but that wasn't to be," the 25-year-old told the official Cardiff City website. "Knowing that my chances would be limited there at Upton Park, it was down to me to find a club where I knew I'd be happy to play. "It's my aim to play week in week out, which I hope to achieve by playing well for Cardiff City. If I'm scoring goals I'm happy, which I'll enjoy doing in a Cardiff shirt." Maynard scored in his final game for West Ham, a 2-0 win over his first club Crewe in the Capital One Cup last Tuesday.
