Cardiff boss Neil Warnock has said Wilfried Zaha "wasn't in a good place" when he joined the manager at Crystal Palace after a disappointing stint at Manchester United.
Warnock will face his old club on Saturday - when Palace visit Cardiff - and thinks his former charge Zaha is now good enough "for one of the top clubs in Europe".
Having impressed in his first spell at Palace, Zaha joined United for £15m in January 2013 - but made just two Premier League appearances before returning to Selhurst Park, initially on loan, in August 2014.
Warnock was in charge of the Eagles at the time, and said: "He wasn't in a good place.
"I met him in the chairman's office. We were talking to him and it was obvious how he felt he had been let down by Manchester United.
"When I spoke to him, I could understand why.
"He was only a young lad then, he needed help and an arm around the shoulder. It didn't appear that he got any of that.
"That is what you do, you go away, rekindle that enthusiasm.
"He has always had tremendous skill and, in the next few years, I am sure he will go to one of the top clubs in Europe."
