TANNADICE TRIAL FOR HUNT

DUNDEE UNITED are giving a trial to Crystal Palace winger Stephen Hunt, and he will play in a friendly on Tuesday.

Hunt has been at Tannadice for over a week and he will turn out against Ross County, before manager Alex Smith (pictured) decides whether to make a move.

The 19-year-old, who had a trial with Preston earlier this season, is surplus to requirements at Selhurst Park and is available on a free transfer to any club prepared to take over his Palace contract.

Hunt made three substitute appearances for Palace last season, but he has not made the desired progress at Selhurst Park and he may now look to secure a move to the SPL to resurrect his career.

Meanwhile, Smith has revealed that Latvian international Valerijis Ivanovs has returned home to sort out some personal details.

Smith is keen to bring him to United, and is waiting for the player to sort out a visa for his family.

"Ivanovs has gone back home to sort out a visa for his wife and daughter," Smith revealed. "But if and when I want him back he`ll be here, and there is a fair chance of that.

"I have spoken to his representatives already because I feel he is a player who would blend with the team."
