Rosenborg striker confirms he is set to join Eagles

Steffen Iversen is looking forward to joining Crystal Palace after confirming a deal is virtually concluded. Eagles manager George Burley is determined to strengthen his squad during the transfer window and revealed on Friday that he was close to signing a new striker. Iversen was thought to be the mystery target and the experienced Norwegian has now spoken of his excitement at the prospect of moving from Rosenborg to Selhurst Park. He is understood to have already passed a medical and agreed an 18-month contract, with the transfer expected to be finalised in the next couple of days. Rosenborg had offered the 34-year-old an extension but he is happy with his decision to return to England after previous spells with Tottenham and Wolves.

Great

"I am happy and pleased that everything is done and I look forward to the future," Iversen told Adresseavisen. "The move first of all related to the family, but of course it is great to get to play in England at the end of my career." Iversen could now make his Palace debut against Preston on Monday. He said: "I don't know if I will get to play yet, but in any case, I am ready."
