Defender in the dark regarding extension to loan deal

Darren O'Dea admits he is unsure where he stands now that Paul Jewell has taken the reins at Ipswich. The defender moved to Portman Road from Celtic back in August, in a deal set to run for five months. That agreement is now coming to a close, but fresh terms have yet to be put in place. O'Dea had committed himself to remaining with Ipswich until the end of the season under former boss Roy Keane, but his departure has left him in limbo. The 23-year-old is yet to meet with incoming coach Jewell, who was official unveiled on Monday, and does not know if he will figure in his plans.

Concentration

The Republic of Ireland international hopes he does, as he is keen to stay put, but for now he is keen to focus his attention on the last two fixtures of his initial agreement. "It was all agreed that my loan would be extended and I would be at Ipswich until the end of the season," he said. "But this was under the management of Roy Keane and I don't know now what will happen under the new manager. "I want to stay, but I will have to wait for it to be sorted and I'm just concentrating on playing Arsenal in the Carling Cup at Portman Road on Wednesday and then the Championship game at Millwall on Saturday."
