Alex Neil laments Norwich defending after West Brom defeat

Norwich boss Alex Neil was extremely disappointed with his side's defending after they were beaten 1-0 at home by West Brom on Saturday.

The Canaries, who suffered their third straight Premier League defeat, lost out to a Salomon Rondon strike just after half-time for the Baggies. 

"[It was] very disappointing," said Neil. "Obviously we wanted to win today. We've come back off a poor defeat last week as well [at Newcastle], and it's difficult to take. 

"18-yard line to 18-yard line, we played pretty well and had more opportunities and a lot of the ball. But in the vital bits in the box when you've got to go and defend and put your head in where it hurts, it cost us."

Neil was also frustrated at his side's inability to take their chances when they were on top after the Baggies made theirs count at Carrow Road.

"We had West Brom penned in for a long period in the first half, but goals change games," the Norwich boss added. "I think we put about 60 crosses into their box and they put about five into ours, and then they scored from the cross into ours.

"We spoke before the match about how vital the first goal wwas, and a lot of times this season we've had to chase the game. I'm disappointed we've not managed to get anything from the game."
